Bottom: After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the tearing down of statues in memory of Lenin Kazakhstan needed to find some local heroes. Western Kazakhstan in particular found them in 'Isatai and Makhambet' a poet and warrior that joined forces in the early 19th century to fight against a puppet government (under Tsarist Russian direction).
This is part of a monument and mural in the centre square of Atrau.
