1. Tim stands next to Dannier (the short guy on his right) who was the local boss of the ministry of agriculture and himself a vet. His promises to move the horses from Karagai to somewhere with good pasture never happened. Photo taken when we arrived to find the horses in September.
2.Caught in the act! 'Kok' my grey horse is seen here with the large felt blanket used to make the horse sweat intensively to prepare for a race. This herder was supposed to be looking after the horses and giving them rest!
3. The family who looked after my horses and dog, only half an hour after being caught preparing the horses for a race. How can you get angry with such kind faces!
4. Herder's son has last one ride before I 'confiscate' the horse from their race preparations.
5. The lovely old man who looked after Tigon day and night for 40 days whilst I was in Almaty. He sat out on this table most mornings and evening with Tigon sharing biscuits, sweets and sometimes a bit of vodka! He kept a kangaroo pin on his singlet at all times and despite being eccentric to the point of being on another planet, he understood my trip better than anyone else in the village.
